Blanche Calloway was featured at the Crio Club in New York City during the mid-20s. She also did some extensive touring with traveling reviews and played at various clubs in Chicago where she lived for a while. Her recording career began in 1925 with a pair of records made with Louis Armstrong and pianist Richard M. Jones. During the next 10 years, she recorded for the OKeh, Victor and Vocallion record companies

In 1931, she fronted the Andy Kirk band at the Pearl Theatre in Philadelphia. During the 30's she toured with her own group until bankruptcy forced a breakup in 1938.
