This song is from the longest running black musical of the Twenties, Blackbirds of 1928. The musical, produced by Lew Leslie, had many wonderful songs, including I Can't Give You Anything But Love, I Must Have That Man and Doin' The New Low Down.


Daughter of vaudevillan Lew Fields, Dorothy Fields and Jimmy McHugh also wrote many of the great early hits from the Cotton Club Revues. Some of the stars of this musical were dancer, Bill "Bojangles" Robinson & singer, Adelaide Hall
