Farewell Blues

Farewell Blues - 1923 - Words & Music by Elmer Schoebel, Paul Mares & Leon Rappolo

In the early Twenties, Mares, Rappolo and Schoebel were members of the New Orleans Rhythm Kings (NORK). Schoebel was one of the first important Jazz composer & arrangers. He prepared many King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton and Louis Armstrong works for publication in the early '20's. The pictured band is led by violinist, Ben Selvin. Benny Goodman and the Dorsey brothers recorded with Selvin during their careers as did many other Jazz stars.
