Seminar: “The Fascination of Paper Manufacturing – Then and Now”

The history of paper production spans over 2000 years and has changed significantly over the course of history. While an experienced papermaker used to make 2500 sheets of paper by hand every day, a modern paper machine produces around 15 million sheets of paper per hour or 365 million per day.

As part of the event “The Fascination of Paper Manufacturing – Then and Now,” participants from the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt Adult Education Center, in cooperation with the Adolf Jass Schwarza GmbH paper mill, gained insights into the history of paper manufacturing on November 12, 2022, learned about modern production during a tour of the factory, and tried their hand at paper making.

The event was very well received and inspired both “young and old,” so that the event is expected to take place again next fall at the Adolf Jass Schwarza GmbH paper mill.
